Colt White Clover
Readily accepted by stock
Superior heat tolerance
Plant Characteristics
Area of Adaption
Soil Type
Will persist on most soil types except for sand (too dry). Tolerant to waterlogging and acid soils.Fertility
Good base rates of phosphorus are necessary for maximum DM production especially during establishment phase.Sowing Guidelines
White clover should be sown in either mid autumn to early winter or spring when ample soil moisture is available no deeper than 10mm. White clover is normally sown at 1-2kg/ha in a blend with other clovers and/or grasses. If sown alone increase the rates to 4-5 kg/ha. Inoculation with Group B strain of rhizobia is essential for nodulation.Disease and Pest Management
Monitor regularly for insect damage during emergence from pests such as RLEM and lucerne flea and spray if required.Rainfall: 700mm
Ph: 7 - 7
Sow Rate: 4 - 4kg/ha
Soils: 2
Weed Control
Always use knockdown herbicide to ensure sowing into a clean seedbed. Monitor for post emergent weeds and spray as required. Always read the label prior to spraying as herbicide tolerances can differ between white clover varieties.Grazing
White clover pastures should be kept short (8-15cm) to minimise shading to other species. Colt will withstand close grazing due to its growth habit.Feed Quality
Colt is a very valuable protein source to all classes of livestock.
