Esteem White Clover
High dry matter production
Strong rhizomes and medium leaf
Dense sward
Plant Characteristics
Maturity
The main growth periods for Esteem are during spring and autumn. Growth is limited during summer and winter due to extreme temperatures.Area of Adaption
Soil Type
Esteem white clover will persist in most soil types except for sandy soils which are too dry. It is tolerant of waterlogging and acid soils. To maximise stand productivity, soil testing is advisable. Analyse soil and neutralise deficiencies with fertiliser and/or lime.Fertility
Good base rates of phosphorus are necessary for maximum DM production especially during establishment phase. DM production is directly related to nitrogen availability. Consult your Upper Murray Seeds agronomist or fertiliser advisor for nitrogen application rates.Sowing Guidelines
White clover should be sown when ample soil moisture is available in either mid autumn to early winter, or spring. Sow no deeper than 10mm. White clover is normally sown at 1-2kg/ha in a blend with other clovers and/or grasses. If sowing clover alone, increase the rate to 4-5 kg/ha. Inoculation with Group B strain of rhizobia is essential for nodulation.Disease and Pest Management
Monitor regularly for insect damage during emergence from pests such as red-legged earthmite and lucerne flea, and spray if required.Rainfall: 550mm
Ph: 7 - 7
Sow Rate: 4 - 4kg/ha
Soils: 2
Weed Control
Always use knockdown herbicide to ensure you are sowing into a clean seedbed. Monitor for post-emergent weeds and spray as required. Always read the label prior to spraying as herbicide tolerances can differ between white clover varieties.Grazing
White clover pastures should be kept short (8-15cm) to minimise shading to other species. Esteem will withstand close grazing due to its growth habit.Feed Quality
Esteem is a very valuable protein source to all classes of livestock.
