Plant Characteristics
Maturity
Very early maturitySoil Type
Winjardie is well adapted to a wide range of fertility levels and soil profiles but performs best in a well-drained loam. Soil testing is advisable to maximise productivity. Analyse soil and neutralise deficiencies with fertiliser and/or lime.Sowing Guidelines
Sow at 80-100kg/ha no deeper than 50mm. Winjardie is suitable for direct drilling provided the seedbed is weed free. The recommended sowing window is late April through to June.Disease and Pest Management
Winjardie can be susceptible to most forms of rust and requires, free draining soilsSow Rate: 8 - 8kg/ha
Grazing
Oats are quick to germinate providing good early feed, and will survive during tough conditions as demonstrated in recent seasons with delayed autumn breaks. Late grazing will damage hay yields significantly.
